Needlepoint cushion, Life Guards

The cushion is made by drawing thread, with a needle, through a cotton canvas which has evenly spaced holes in it. This can only be done by hand and takes between six and ten man-days to complete each cushion face, back it with velvet and apply the trim. The designs are worked in a combination of ten and twenty stitches to the inch.
